Day 3: Favorite video game Character | A Black Mage and a Witch of the Wilds

So… My favorite character in Video Games of all time! GOD! THIS IS TOUGH! There are so many epic characters that I felt in love with along the years!

Since this challenge does not have male and female character as in the anime challenge, I will give 2 of my favorites characters, one male and other female (in reality I’m just cheating so I can pick 2 and not just 1 xD).

Just a disclaimer, even though I’m going to tell you just one, there are many more that are in same foot as them 😛

(SPOILERS IN THE DESCRIPTION OF THE CHARACTERS)

So for the male character – VIVI (he’s a guy right?) from Final Fantasy 9

I’m not really a huge fan of the Final Fantasy IX series. I still didn’t make a review about it, but don’t worry I will 🙂 However, even though it was not my favorite Final Fantasy to play it gave me the joy to meet one of my favorites characters of all time!!!!

Firs of all, he is the cutest thing ever! Really, even when in-game graphics just the way he walks is cute! 😀 But there is much more than that! He is one of the characters that develops the most in any game I ever play.

It starts as this cute mage that doesn’t remember anything, that is just lovely and he’s starting to get to know everything in the world and still very naive (basically, just like a child), but when the plot starts to evolve and he gets to know where did he came from and to know that all mages like him are just manufactured blindly manipulated dolls the sorrow and rage starts to come (as you can see from the image above).

But! It doesn’t end here! Oh no! In like the third disc of the game you finally arrive to a black mage village where others, as Vivi, had regained consciousness. Here he starts to understand what is death and that nothing is eternal. Really, his character development is poetic if you think about it. It is this kind of purity that starts to decay the more he knows about the world, although he never looses his cute and humble way to be. I just love him so much!!!!!

Now, for the female character (and this one was harder xD). But, I’ll go with Flemeth from the Dragon Age series:

Completely in a different note. If Vivi is just a child, Flemeth has lived for centuries and she has her wisdom to demonstrate it. She is the opposite of cute, humble, or naive. It’s funny how I ended up choosing completely different characters.

I love her, first of all for her intelligence/wisdom. To this day I still remember one of her lines in Dragon Age: Origins that I try to apply into my life: “If you want something done, do it yourself! Or hear it about it a decade or two afterwards!”

More than her wisdom, she is calculist and knows what is going to happen and how. Also, she knows what she needs to do to survive. Do not take me wrong, she is not kind, but I can say she is just! She is the one who gives a path to the hero and Alistair to fight the blight (which basically makes completely difference) in Dragon Age: Origins. Basically, even though she appears only 5 minutes in the beginning of the game gives a contribution to the main plot super important.

Further into the first game you have the possibility to kill Flemeth. Fast forward a little bit and we are in the beginning of the second dragon age. The main character is saved by Flemeth and she only asks him to bring an artefact to an elven tribe as a contribution. Ah, the beginning of the dragon age 2 is like in the same period of the beginning of dragon age 1! When you get to the elven territory and give the object, you guessed it… Well, probably not. The artefact had a piece of Flemeth’s soul (or something like that) and she lives again! Basically, she knew from the start that her own daughter would come back to kill her.In the second game she also comes more powerful and majestic, she doesn’t seem a old woman no more 😀

In the third game you finally find that Flemeth is in reality one elven godess. That’s why she is the mastermind she is! Never a character made me feel so curious and never a character turned up to be something so unexpected… I mean, I knew she was stron, but a loved godess of the ancient elves????
