Hello everyone and welcome to our place!
Today I want to discuss a little bit how blogging is making me to have even more fun while watching Anime or playing videogames. To be honest, one of my fears when I started was that it would take the fun of my biggest source of entertainment. I’m happy to say that wasn’t the case.
Let’s start with Anime, shall we?

The biggest fear I had when I started was that I would begin to overanalyse everything I would watch so I could get the juice to write about it. This way, from the beginning, I said to me that I would not do that. My reviews would be by someone who would watch an Anime without thinking about writing a thesis about it.
In the end, that’s what you get from my reviews. A biased, personal review where I speak about what I felt from the Anime. Even though I always go thought plot, characters, animation and music, it’s always written by someone who watched the Anime in not a 100% focused kind of way. I don’t have a notebook to add notes to my reviews, neither I go and search for different things about the Anime. I do this because I never did that when I only watched Anime. To be honest, I don’t think most of the viewers (non-bloggers) would do that.

However, people seem to like it nonetheless and I usually get some comments on my reviews, which made me enjoy even more watching Anime. Now I know there will be some people who I will enter discussions with. Some people will agree, others won’t. And that’s where the fun part is! I learnt a lot in these 8 months of blogging because of you and it has been a really fun ride.
Social Media

I just started to be more active on Twitter in the last few weeks and let me tell you, it made my experience with Anime even more fun. Nowadays, when I’m watching an Anime episode I’m always checking for a nice printscreen, part of videos and things like that to tweet about.
What I discovered was – I have more fun while watching the episode. I laugh way more, I comment way more and I end up way more immersed in what I’m watching. Here’s an example. I’m watching Free! at the moment and as you know, when someone is swimming, the others will be rooting for them like: “Ikke ikke ikke ikke Haruka”. Well, guess what? Now I always scream with them! It makes the activity way more enjoyable.
Here’s the tweet:
But, what does that have to do with social media? Well, you probably will see in my feed today commenting about that with a clip with someone rooting. If I wasn’t thinking about that I would just pass this part and not even make a noise. Now, because of blogging, I end up letting me go way more with whatever I’m watching and have fun with it.
Horrible Anime Quest

Yeah, there was only one post about this. However, it was one of the more enjoyable posts to write in this blog. I started with Dynamic Chord, but you can be sure that there will be more to come out sooner or later! 😀
I never thought this would be so much fun, to be honest. It’s true that in this case I have to overanalyze the Anime and do a fact check to make sure I create plausible goals and changes for the said Anime. But, who would guess that watching an Anime, knowing that it will be horrible, carefully and coming out ideas to make it bearable would increase the enjoyment of watching it so much? 😀

Discussions

As with Anime, I’ve been able to discuss and learn a lot about gaming because of blogging which has been a lot of fun!
However, contrary to Anime, I know analyze the games a little more. But, in this case, it makes the game even funnier. I try to look for hidden gems. I really stop and look to the environment around me to have something to say. I get more attached to the characters since I want to clearly understand their development and so on. This way, analyzing it more made the game experience way more enjoyable!
This Month On PS4 Plus Free Games

These series are also a new add to my blog and I’ve only written once for July. Well, of course I always saw wich games where in the PS4 Plus and downloaded the ones which interested me. However, what would happen was them to be in my library forever without me actually playing them. I mean, I have a backlog so huge on games that I will be old when I’ll be able to play all of them.
However, everything changed when I started these series. I download and I actually play the games right away. Yeah, it’s only for an hour, I know. However, this already made me try completely different games that I would never play if I didn’t had this series running. Are all of them good? No! Do I like all of them? No! Nevertheless, at least I give them a try and end up having a lot of fun trying all of these different games eheh
Should I Play X Game in 2018?

Although this series are a little asleep at the moment, I’m having a lot of fun with it! It brings me to those older games which I loved when I was younger and remember all of them! It’s been nostalgic and I love it! Moreover, it’s fun to think of them and bring them to the lights of 2018 gameplay and think if they would still be good to play or not 😀
– Conclusion –
I’m really happy that blogging brought even more fun into my entertainment media. Of course, blogging brought me a lot of joy throughout these past months. I met a lot of awesome people and made many connections which I consider friends. This is also something I wasn’t expecting. But, this time I wanted to focus on the entertainment part of it!
What about you? Did blogging made your Anime watching / Gameplay more enjoyable? Or do you feel, from time to time, that you are not enjoying it as much because of thinking in what you are going to write about it in the blog? Tell me everything in the comments! 😀

I agree with blogging making anime more enjoyable! I think blogging about shows has given me more skills to do with analysing stuff and seeing more than just a simple romance or comedy anime. I think it’s allowed me to appreciate the smaller things in anime and I love that fact. Having a community is the best too! I love being able to follow anime series along with others and discuss everything to my hearts content! It’s so much fun! 😀

That’s completely true! After a while you start to be able to understand the small details that makes a show completely different from another even if the set is similar 😛
Yeah, the community is just the best! 😀

Yeah exactly! And I love that fact! 😄
And it is! 😁

The interaction with other bloggers is certainly the aspect that I enjoy the most. From small chit-chats to discussions, they are all equally rewarding in different senses. Rather than being discouraged from thinking of what I can write for my posts, I find it agonizing that there is too little free time to blog fun ideas even when they come out right at your fingertips. Best of it all is being able to read the expression of other bloggers from their content and styles. 🙂

ahahahah I have the same problem! It’s getting harder and harder to do everything I want -.-” Specially with streaming now bah… But, well, I love it so I’ll do my best to balance everything xD

I am one of those bloggers who research their posts ad infinitum. Like just today my husband and I had a discussion about the Japanese use of seals instead of signatures because of Comic Girls.
My reason is that I strive to educate and widen my readers’ horizons.

Interestingly, when I started my personal blog I didn’t plan to write about either anime or gaming. But I write about whatever’s on my mind, so naturally over time I just ended up writing about both! 🙂

Ahahah completely understand! I wasn’t also going to go for much of personal stuff like Blogging is hard and things like that. However, as you, they just ended up coming out because it makes part of my way of being 😛

I agree here. I’ve found it’s way more enjoyable, but also wayyyyy more time-consuming.

Oh yeah! You can put more “y”s in there! It takes a lot from watching Anime to write about it and then find the perfect images and so on! The same happens to gaming! 😛 But well, it’s time well spent!

Well…I can only answer that question in one way: Hell to the yes! In fact it was blogging (or to be more specific Karandi) who rekindled my interest in anime again. And I have really had a blast ever since that moment.
Now having since this year started watching seasonal anime, it’s become even more fun!. I love exchangiing thoughts with everyone on a new episode and in that way anime watching has become an even better experience. Great post! 😀

Yeah, Karandi has that effect on people ahah xD
To be honest, I want to start watching more seasonal Anime just so I can have something to add in these kind of discussions! Need to find the time for it though ahah
Thank you~! ^^

Well, that’s the fun thing…with seasonal animes you don’t have to watch everything. I’m currently following about 5 shows, and that’s my limit. And it’s totally manageable. It only is an investment of about an episode each day so 25 minutes max. And it really has been incredibly fun to talk to everybody how people are experiencing a certain series 😊😊

Well, to be honest I don’t even have 25 minutes in my daily life at the moment!
after I get out from work I go to the gym, then I get home and eat dinner, then it’s streaming time aaaand it’s time to go to sleep ahah 😛

Wow…that sounds even worse than my daily life. Hopefully things will improve for you soon and you will get some more free time 😊😊

Problaby not since most of those things are about blogging and streaming which I don’t want to stop ahah

I think starting my blog did make me even more of an anime fan because I felt like I had someone to talk with after an episode was done or when I suddenly had an idea about an anime that I wanted to talk about. And then I’d get responses from others that would make me think about other aspects and it just made everything that little bit more fun. Prior to the blog most anime related conversations I had went along the lines of: “What did you watch yesterday?” “X and X episodes.” “Oh.” Conversation over. Mostly because the few friends I have who watch anime don’t actually live anywhere near me and the friends who do, don’t watch anime so while they might politely ask about it, they aren’t that interested.

At least you have friends that asked you that ahah I don’t even have friends like that ahah I do speak about Anime with my boyfriend, but nothing so detail heavy as we do here in our awesome community!
To be honest, I never thought that I would have so much fun commenting Anime. Gaming I knew that I would be thrilled, but Anime, not so much ahah

I don’t think I realised how much fun I would have talking about anime every day until I started my blog and yet the more I do it, the more I want to. It’s just really great fun.

I agree! I love talking about even small and silly details of anime because it’s fun. I sometimes put these things in my reviews and go ‘hm, what does the reader really gain from me saying this?’ but then I leave it in anyway because I think it’s interesting or funny or just weird. Even if it impacts nothing of import, I still find value in it that I want to share with others, whether to make you laugh or just make you go ‘…Hm.’ It makes the experience more fulfilling and fun to me.
That being said, I have definitely gotten more analytical and research heavy since I started blogging, and I tend to write, analyze and even nitpick A LOT. Ask anyone and they’ll tell you I tend to write a lot when I honestly don’t have to. I used to write Fanfiction and my few readers would say they’d put off reading a chapter because it was too long. I get it, but that’s just the way I am. I have not gotten better in the decade and a half since then.
Researching and analysis, admittedly, does make watching anime more of a chore for me than it should because I’ll go into a lot of shows with a mindset of ‘you know you’ll have to do a lot of work if you start watching this.’ and in the end I still make a ton of mistakes, even incredibly stupid ones, that I kick myself in the pants for later. But, oddly, I’ve put my own spin on the research and analysis part that makes it even more enjoyable.
I’ll analyze superfluous things that I just find baffling and funny. I’ll research things that have little to do with the series or episode as a whole, but that I got super invested in because it was just that interesting. I recently wrote like two pages of material on how snake venom works because of an ‘error’ in throwaway scene in an episode of Pokemon, and what I said could easily be discredited due to the fantasy nature of the show, but I had a ton of fun researching it and talking about it.
Right now, even though I’ve long since posted the review, I’m doing research on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in both production and the symbolic analysis of the story. I only talked about some of the production aspects in my review because they were what interested most in that regard. Otherwise, I talked about how much I enjoyed it. This research is really for my own personal benefit, but I feel like maybe talking about it in the future.
My review style now flows back and forth between analytical and largely opinionated based on what I’m reviewing. If I don’t find enjoyment in the research or analysis aspect of a series/movie/manga etc. I probably won’t do much but give my own opinion.
In the end, a review does require some technical analysis, but it really amounts to what you enjoyed about it and what you didn’t. It’s your opinion and views on your experience. It is entertainment, afterall. You can say a movie or anime or whatnot has a bunch of historical value or technical achievement or symbolism or messages, but it doesn’t amount to much if you didn’t enjoy it or emotionally benefit from it.
…….And I’m so sorry for the text wall. I really have to stop doing that lol.

First, don’t be sorry for the text wall. In fact, THANK YOU for spending the time writing it xD
I really love how we all have different approaches in how to create content for our blog 😛 And I really admire people like you who spend their time analyzing and searching to make it sure that everything is completely fully explained xD
But, if you are having fun with it and find it interesting that’s what important ahah It’s sad that you feel that watching a certain is a chore though :S Maybe try to balance between less and more analyzing when it comes to Anime just so you can rest between and maybe not feel it like a chore.

Yeah, I’ve been trying to just relax more and not approach each thing I watch with a ‘work’ attitude. Afterall, like you said, if I want to do the research because I think it’s interesting or fun, I should, but if it’s just going to make it a chore, I should just focus on how I felt about it.
I now realize that that attitude might bleed into my blog posts too because I might have a negative or boring slant to my opinion right out the gate, and that’s not fair to what I’m reviewing.
I recently watched EYES of Mars to relax and watch an anime I didn’t intend on reviewing, because my wrist and hand were hurting. I had no intention on reviewing it at all, but then I got like 80% into the movie and couldn’t resist but write a review of it right away because it was just so ridiculous. I had a lot of fun with it.
I really should just go into watching something without even thinking much about the review portion. Everyone’s blog is for themselves first and foremost. You gotta have fun with it. 🙂

This is so true… I used to watch anime and Asian dramas equally, but ever since I started to blog about anime, I’ve been watching more anime and fewer dramas. It’s exciting to have a reason to blog, and more exciting and fun to have interactions with fellow bloggers. 😀

Completely agree with you! It’s so fun to know that there will be people interested in what you have to say about a certain show or something like that eheh 😀

100% agreed with this. Writing about things on my site gives me a sense of structure to how I spend my “free” time and lets me focus. It helps me get through my backlog and explore things a bit at a time rather than getting stuck in analysis paralysis mode and never knowing what to play.
Gaming was already important to me, but what I do with it now makes it feel like a substantial hobby I’m engaging with for more than just the casual passing of time.

Never thought about that, but now that you said it… Yeah, after I started blogging I stopped having the problem in what should I play / watch. In fact, I always have a next game or Anime that I want to experience while I still didn’t end the last one.
The best thing is – I now can say when I’m gaming that I’m researching for my blog! ahah xD

Great article. I’m the same when it comes to over analyzing it haha. I’ve found that the fact I can always go back to it when my writing skills improve and change it up a bit to be nice. To answer your question I think blogging enhances my game play especially with me doing tip articles. I did youtube for a bit before but found it to be too much effort, blogging is definitely a good middle ground.

I can relate to that! I also thought about doing Youtube for a second there, but it just takes way too much time… Time that I don’t have I’m sad to say 😦
Ti articles are great! I’ve actually thought about doing some of them… But, then I always step back because I know there are people out there who knows way more than I do ahah
